Sliding Scale

We are introducing a new way to access our wealth of ready-to-use online resources. Now, we are asking readers to pay a sliding scale fee from $0 to $20.00 to access our online materials.

Here’s why.

Because it is time. This method is greener; it’s more sustainable for the magazine and the planet, it’s more sensible, and it still gives everyone access.

You can still subscribe to receive a paper copy in the mail, but now you can choose instead to subscribe to the online version. With your subscription, you have full access to the whole site, including the current issue, all the back issues and extras.

This approach is greener because it saves on printing and transporting the magazine, and you have the option of printing only the pages you will use.

This approach helps sustain The Change Agent because it creates revenue which allows us to continue our work. (A note about this: As the cost of printing and mailing goes up, more and more materials will be available on the web. How will those resources generate income? There are two ways – either through advertising or by people being willing to pay a fair price for them. Your willingness to pay it allows The Change Agent (decidedly not an advertising-driven resource) to sustain itself as we enter the 21st century.

This approach is sensible because it spreads the cost of the magazine among all readers – not just the paper subscribers.

This approach still makes The Change Agent available to everyone because it is still free to those who can’t afford to pay for it. Our sliding scale payment method gives you the option to pay nothing. Simply put: we believe in our product and we believe in our readers. We trust that if you can pay something, you will. If you can’t, we are still happy to know that the paper is out there being used and discussed in classrooms.

We welcome your feedback on our new approach to disseminating and sustaining The Change Agent.
