GET INVOLVED
The
Change Agent is a low-budget publication and is
unfortunately not able to financially compensate contributors.
Here are a few ways to volunteer your time and get involved
with The Change Agent::
Volunteer for the Editorial Board
We recruit a new editorial board for each issue of the paper. After determining the topic for the issue, we look for board members from within and outside the adult education field who have some interest and expertise in the content area. Board members:
- help conceptualize and shape the content of the paper;
- help identify and solicit other writers for the paper;
- review submissions and make recommendations about their inclusion; and
- write at least one short article for the paper.
Board members attend two meetings at World Education in Boston, MA. Though our budget does not provide enough for stipends, we do offer a small compensation to board members of $50 per meeting and travel reimbursement. Contact the editor for more information.
Submit an Article
The Change Agent is always looking for good material. We seek news articles; poetry; stories; opinion pieces; interviews; book and video reviews; and other writing for each issue. The Change Agent is not an academic publication. We strive to publish materials that are accessible to adult learners. Suggested page length is 500-1200 words. If you'd like to contribute something to the paper, check the Call for Articles posted on this site. You can also contact the editor with any questions.
Submit Lessons & Activities
We include classroom activities and exercises in each issue of the paper so that teachers can easily use the paper in instruction. Lessons that teachers have successfully used in the classroom are especially important. We also print write-ups of activities in which teachers describe how the activity worked, how students responded to it, and ideas for taking the activity further. Contact the editor with questions.
Submit Student Writing
Work with your students to develop an article, story, photo essay, illustration, activity, or other contribution for the paper. Students whose submissions are accepted for publication will receive a $50 stipend. Suggested page length is 500-1200 words. Submit Art Work
In addition to written material, The Change Agent uses visual material in the paper. We need cartoons, graphics, photos, drawings and other artwork that illustrate the theme. For submission information see the Call for Artists.
